Lluvias De Bendicion Group
A loan of $4,500 helps a member to buy more pigs and chickens to continue strengthening their production and meet new demands.

Lluvias De Bendicion Group's story
Miriam, a 42-year-old entrepreneur, lives in the department/state of Suchitepéquez. She is married and has four children aged between 13 and 24. The youngest is in sixth grade, while the older ones only reached that level. Three of them are already married, and Miriam is a grandmother of four. Her husband is employed on a banana farm. She has only three years of formal education, but she decided to take action by starting her own business. For the past ten years, she has been raising and selling pigs from her home. To generate more income, two years ago she began buying free-range chickens ready for slaughter, selling the meat by the pound with the help of her youngest daughter.
Due to high demand, she is applying for her first Kiva loan to buy more pigs and chickens to continue strengthening her production and meet new demands. In the future, Miriam wants to grow her business and ensure greater stability for her family.
The seven Spanish-speaking women are part of the Friendship Bridge Community Bank "Lluvias de Bendicion" [Rain of Blessing]. They raise domestic animals, sell casual clothing, and sell meat. During monthly meetings, they learn about different topics, including business, health, and family. Some of the topics they highlight are saving and preventing over-indebtedness. This is part of the ‘Microcredit Plus’ programme.
The women in the group are very grateful to Kiva lenders.
