Edith
A loan of $700 helps to buy more alcoholic beverages for sale.

Edith's story
Edith is 49 years old and lives in the town of Kiyinda in the Kiyinda region of Uganda. She is married and has 5 children with none of them currently in school.
For the past 14 years, Edith has been working hard to manage her a bar, which sells alcoholic beverages. To help expand her business, Edith has requested a loan of 2,500,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy more alcoholic beverages for sale, and will help Edith to generate greater profits and expand her business.
Edith hopes that in the future she will be able to construct rental units. She is a member of BRAC's microfinance program, which primarily serves small-group members like her who do not have collateral for commercial loans but have businesses that have grown and qualify for microloans.
