Group Ayidekon-Fifa is composed of three residents of the same district in Benin. The group's representative, named Augustine Louise, is the woman raising her hand on the picture. This is the third time that this group is requesting ALIDé's financial support in order to increase their level of activity.
Augustine Louise is married to a welder named Thomas and has seven children, who go to school. Out of the seven children, five depend on her financially. Augustine Louise and her husband take care of the family's various expenses together. Augustine Louise did not have much schooling, but she learned sewing. She has been in this business for about five years. In addition to this activity, Augustine Louise sells haberdashery items in her workshop. On the side, she also sells fabrics, shoes, bags and baby linen in her workshop. Augustine Louise gets her supplies in Benin and in Togo.
Demand from her customers is growing, and given her limited resources, Augustine Louise is having trouble meeting their requirements. Considering this and their limited resources, Augustine Louise and the other members of group Ayidekon-Fifa are requesting a collective loan from ALIDé.

Le groupe AYIDEKON-FIFA est formé de trois personnes qui résident dans le même quartier au Bénin. La représentante de ce groupe, nommée Augustine Louise est celui dont la main est levée sur la photo. C’est la troisième fois que ce groupe sollicite l’appui financier de ALIDé en vue d’élever le niveau de leur activité. Augustine Louise est mariée à un soudeur du Thomas et a sept enfants qui sont scolarisés. Des sept enfants, cinq sont à sa charge. Augustine Louise et son mari supporte ensemble les diverses charges de la famille. Augustine Louise a très peu fréquenté l'école, mais a appris la couture. Augustine Louise exerce cette activité depuis cinq ans environs. A côté de cette activité, Augustine Louise vend des articles de mercerie dans son atelier. De façon secondaire, Augustine Louise vend des tissus, des chaussures, des sacs et des layettes dans son atelier. Augustine Louise s’approvisionne au Bénin et au Togo. La demande de sa clientèle devient de plus en plus grande et compte tenu de ses moyens limités, Augustine Louise n'arrive plus à bien répondre à leurs exigences. Eu égard à cela et compte tenu de leurs ressources limitées, Augustine Louise et les autres membres du groupe AYIDEKON-FIFA sollicitent ensemble un crédit auprès de ALIDé.

About Alidé

Alidé is a Beninese NGO that works to reduce poverty by offering sustainable access to productive loans like this one in addition to savings, training sessions, and social work to low-income families.

Supporters of this loan should be aware that there is some risk of being repaid late. Because the Beninois Ministry of Finance has imposed restrictions on the amount of money Alidé can send to Kiva, the organization can only send monthly repayments in installments smaller than $13,000. This means that some Kiva lenders may receive their repayments late. However, Alidé remains a healthy institution in good standing with its creditors, and Kiva would like to continue working to support its clients. This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee.
