A loan of $1,125 helps to buy more rice, beans and posho.

Sarah's story
Sarah is 50 years old and lives in the town of Kiyinda in the Kiyinda region of Uganda. She is married and has 5 children, with 2 of them currently in school. For the past 5 years, Sarah has been working hard to manage her retail shop, which sells sugar, soap, salt, detergent and others. To help expand her business, Sarah has requested a loan of 4,000,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to restock the shop with more items, and will help Sarah to generate greater profits and improvement in the family well-being while boosting the business. Sarah hopes that in the future she will be able to build rental homes. She is a member of BRAC's microfinance program, which primarily serves small-group members like her who do not have collateral for commercial loans but have businesses that have grown and qualify for microloans.
