Hadijah's story
Hadija is years 39 old and lives in the town of Matugga in the Matugga region of Uganda. She is married and has four children who are all currently in school. For the past four years Hadija has been working hard to manage her retail shop, which sells rice, beans, soap and posho.
To help expand her business, Hadija has requested a loan of 3,000,000 UGX (Ugandan Shillings) from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy more general merchandise like rice, beans, soap, and posho to sell. This will help Hadija to generate greater profits and will be able to educate her children.
Hadija hopes that in the future she will be able to expand her business.She is a member of BRAC's microfinance program, which primarily serves small-group members like her who do not have collateral for commercial loans but have businesses that have grown and qualify for microloans.
