Eduardo's story

I grew up playing sports since I was five years old, and that passion has stayed with me throughout my life. As an engineer, I've always loved solving problems and creating new solutions. When my wife and I moved to Miami, we quickly discovered the challenge of playing outdoor sports in Florida's intense heat. My wife brings incredible skill in fabric and sewing, and together we realized we could combine our strengths to create something meaningful.

The idea for Picktennt came while waiting at crowded public pickleball and tennis courts. I noticed elderly players struggling in the heat with nowhere to find shade - most public courts lack tents, structures, or any sun protection. The heat doesn't just make playing uncomfortable; it reduces your stamina and can be dangerous, especially for older players. I thought: why not create a portable awning that sets up in seconds and fits in your sports bag? Beyond solving a problem I experienced personally, I saw an opportunity to create jobs for skilled elderly workers in our community - people who excel at manual tasks like sewing, cutting, and assembly but struggle to find work in today's digital-focused economy. My mother and mother-in-law have been instrumental in helping us create prototypes, and they'll be our first employees as we grow.
