Mariela sells general merchandise. She’s been in business for over four years. Her business started because she did not have the opportunity to provide her family with daily income. She started this way of life with very little capital.
The reason for the loan is to buy clothing in general, footwear, perfume, lipsticks and more products. In the future, she’d like to see her children become professionals so that they won’t have to work as hard as she has had to.

Su negocio dio inicio porque no tenía la oportunidad de proporcionarle a su familia ingresos diariamente, fue con muy poco capital que logro empezar este medio de vida. El motivo del crédito es para la compra de ropa en general, calzado, perfumes, lápiz labial y más productos. En un futuro quiere ver a sus hijos profesionales y que no pasen por el trabajo duro como ella lo ha hecho.

Fundación Leon 2000 began operations in 1993 as the first microfinance institution to serve the western part of Nicaragua, a country which continues to be one of the poorest in the western hemisphere. Fundación Leon 2000 works to further the development of micro, small, and medium enterprises through credit services and management, applying the best credit industry practices and technical expertise. Additionally, Fundación Leon manages several business and financial education programs in the community, specifically for young entrepreneurs and at-risk youth. Fundación Leon 2000’s group of experienced and dedicated employees works in 7 offices in Leon, Chinandega, Chichigalpa, Somotillo, Jinotepe, El Sauce, and Nagarote and serves several thousand clients (the majority of whom are women).
