The committee named “Damas del Barrio San Antonio” (Women of San Antonio Neighborhood) was started as a result of the efforts of Sra. Blanca. She organized her friends and neighbors and informed them about the Program of Women Entrepreneurs. They were happy to hear about the program and decided to organize a committee. There are currently 15 members in the committee. All of them work responsibly and in a cooperative manner. Their primary purpose is to generate more income to help their families and themselves.

Sra. Deolinda has a small store that helps to sustain her family, provide for their daily needs, and give her children the minimum necessities to have a decent life. Someday she hopes to expand her business so that she can generate more income. She is requesting a loan to buy food products, canned goods, meats, and other items to restock her store.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
