Rose is 23 years old and has been practicing mixed farming for four years. She produces maize, beans and milk which are sold to the local market in Nyamira in South Rift Kenya. She is married and has three children between 10 and 6 years old.
Rose has requested a loan of 31,200 KES from Juhudi Kilimo to purchase and insure a dairy cow. She says the cow will make the provision of meals for her children a possibility and the additional income can be used to meet other family needs. She wants to save enough to venture into the transport business in the future.
Rose says that challenges for her remain the poor road network and low market prices for her products.
