Taku Liguey I Group

Taku Liguey I Group's story

Fatou is the president of the TAKU LIGUEY group, which is a Wolof term meaning “UNION FOR WORK” in English. She is a 40-year-old livestock farmer. She is sitting with her left hand raised and holding the sheep's neck with her right hand. Married to a farmer and mother of three children aged 7 to 10, all of whom are in school, she is a creditworthy VFS customer and has been in business for over 12 years. With this loan, she plans to buy livestock (sheep and goats). This will enable her to expand her business and increase her income.

To stock up on supplies, she goes to the weekly markets in her locality and then sells them in her neighborhood and the surrounding areas. The income she earns enables her to provide for her family's needs (health, food, education, hygiene, etc.). Among the difficulties she faces are livestock theft, fierce competition, and the high cost of animals.

Fatou says she wants to open a large farm in the future.
