Duo Santa Teresita Group
In this Group: Maria Marta , Justa
'Santa Teresita' group

This group has two members. María Marta sells essential household products and, a short while ago, she managed to buy a mill for grinding 'nixtamal' (cooked corn used in making tortillas). Her business is doing very well as she serves a number of people during the day. She would like to take advantage of this opportunity and invest further in her grocery store business as the people who come to use her mill also buy household products while they are there. Alongside María Marta lives Justa who has been selling tortillas for several years. Owing to the increase in the price of corn, she needs capital so that she can buy in larger quantities and save. According to her customers' needs, she also sells corn which makes her an additional income to that which she makes selling her tortillas. Both ladies would like to continue working and expanding their businesses. They are happy to have this opportunity to obtain capital with which they can achieve their goals.

About FAPE

FAPE, the Foundation for the Assistance of Small Businesses, is a nonprofit, socially-minded institution that provides loans to micro-entrepreneurs across Guatemala.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
