Benkady Group's story
Fanta is the present of the group called « Benkady » a Bambara term which means « unity in harmony » in English. She is a trader aged 49 years. She is sitting in the front with her left hand raised. She is divorced and the mother of 3 children aged from 8 to 15 years who go to school. She also cares for 1 child of 1 year old.
Fanta is a financially sound client of VFS and has been doing this activity for 11 years. With this loan she plans to buy goods (mandarins, mangos, cashew nuts, others ...). This will allow her to strengthen her activity and increase her income. To purchase stocks on the local weekly markets to then sell them in the neighborhood and surroundings.
Her earnings will allow her to cover the family's needs in the following areas: healthcare, food, education, hygiene etc.
Among the difficulties she faces, the strong competition, inflation and the high cost of transport can be mentioned.
Fanta wishes to become a bit trader and develop her activity on a national scale.
