Odania lives in a simple structure with her long-term partner and three children. She is the coordinator of her group, Embajadores 1 & 2 ("Ambassadors 1 & 2"). The group is made up of Haitian members, all of them who emigrated from Haiti during different periods. Odania's story is representative of both her group and Esperanza's Haitian and Dominican clients in general. Her group is located in the rural areas surrounding La Romana, where sugarcane and the tourist industry dominate the economy.

Odania sells clothes such as jeans, shirts, skirts, underwear and other things for kids, women and men. She is excited to be seeking her eighth loan with Esperanza; notably, she has successfully repaid her previous loan, which enabled her to grow her business. With each of these loans she has been able to expand her business by introducing new products.

Odania plans to use this loan to invest in her business and invest the profits in more merchandise. She will save some money to achieve her future plans for her business. She thanks all of you for your support.

Additional Information

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
