Milly is married and has five children. All five of her children go to school. She doesn’t take care of additional family members.
Milly makes brushes and works six days a week. She has been in this business for the last 30 years. She sells the brushes to schools and to shops around the area. Milly is a teacher by profession. She does part time teaching in nearby schools and this brings some side income, apart from making brushes.
Milly has requested for a loan of 500,000 from MCDT SACCO to buy more raw materials for making brushes. Her major business challenge is ever increasing prices of raw materials for making brushes and lack of enough markets for her brushes. She resides in a rented house and her family has access to electricity, but not to piped water. Her monthly expenses include school fees and rent.
