Lawrence's story

Lawrence is 35 years old and lives in the town of Kiyinda in the Central region of Uganda. He is married and has two children. For the past eight years, Lawrence has been working hard to manage his farm, where he does farming in coffee and other food products.

To help expand his business, Lawrence has requested a loan of 5,000,000 Ugandan shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy more coffee seedlings to plant for sales, and will help Lawrence to generate greater profits. His production will increase and attract more revenue. He will manage to provide basic needs for his family like food and clothes for his children.

Lawrence hopes that in the future he will be able to complete building his house. He is a member of BRAC's Small Enterprise Program (SEP). The program primarily serves small entrepreneurs like Lawrence who do not have enough collateral for commercial loans, but have businesses that have grown too large for microloans.
