A loan of $1,475 helps to purchase a motorcycle that optimizes transportation for milk sales.

Lucinda

Lucinda's story

Lucinda is a cattle farmer from Chivatá, Boyacá, with 35 years of experience. She owns a one-hectare farm where she cares for a herd of three dairy cows that produce around 60 liters of milk, which she collects daily in the morning and afternoon, maintaining product quality. She sells within her community and nearby areas, transporting the milk using a tricycle fitted with metal buckets for more practical and secure handling; however, this system has capacity limitations and requires constant maintenance to prevent spills or losses during transport.

Lucinda lives with her husband in a house 24 minutes from her farm, and he provides crucial support in her daily management and in caring for the cattle.

A loan of COP $5,456,620 allows Lucinda to purchase a motorcycle to improve milk transportation.  This investment facilitates travel during sales, reduces the physical effort previously required using the tricycle with metal buckets, and allows her to expand her customer coverage in the area.

The motorcycle in Colombia is a highly important tool for farmers, given its ability to facilitate the transportation of inputs and products across difficult terrain, optimizing time and costs, and improving access to markets.
