Las Rosas De Chipaj Group
A loan of $6,675 helps a member to buy more animals, feed, and more chicken meat.

Las Rosas De Chipaj Group's story
Raquel is 46 years old, she separated from her husband 8 years ago. She has 3 children between the ages of 10 and 28, two of them are in school and the oldest already finished high school. She also has two grandchildren. Raquel only finished until 6th grade in school, as her parents did not allow her to continue studying because she is a woman.
Raquel has been raising broiler chickens and pigs for 12 years, which she butchers to sell the meat. She sells from her home. Raquel has 3 employees who help her butcher the animals. She also grows multiple crops like beans, where she sells 75% of her crops and the other 25% is consumed by her family.
Raquel is requesting her 4th Kiva loan to buy more chickens and pigs, as well as chicken meat to sell and take advantage of the high demand of the holidays. Her goal is to continue strengthening her business, finish building her house, and, in the future, to have her own convenience store.
Raquel is the president of the Las Rosas De Chipaj group, which is made up of another 7 women who speak K’iche’ and live in the department of Quiché. They sell bread, raise animals, sell meat and basic grains, and sell poultry. The “Microcrédito Plus” program is important for these women because they receive monthly training where they learn about health, business, family, and women's topics.
