Aurora Group's story
Yes, selling pajamas and accessories online is a profitable and growing business! This business is ideal for working from home, thanks to the constant demand and the ease of reaching customers.
For 24-year-old Gabriela, the online sales business has been very profitable for the past eighteen months. Since childhood, she has faced challenges such as her parents' separation and growing up with limited resources alongside her mother and three siblings. Gabriela only completed seven grades of school, then worked as a nanny and also cared for her younger sisters for a time. She married very young (at 18), became a widow four years ago, and is the mother of a six-year-old boy. She works hard to provide for her son's well-being and education. She is requesting her fourth Kiva loan to buy more pajamas and handbags.
Seven Spanish-speaking women living in the department/state of Quetzaltenango make up the Friendship Bridge "Aurora" Community Bank. Most of these women are involved in making and selling shoes, clothing, and cosmetics. One of them provides midwifery services to pregnant women and assists with childbirth. These women participate in relevant educational training as part of the "Microcrédito Plus" program, which provides loans, education, and health services. This is crucial to their success, as they have little to no formal education.
Thank you, Kiva lenders, for taking an interest in learning about the life stories of women like Gabriela.
