A loan of $600 helped to do mechanical maintenance work on his bus.

Ismael's story

Don Ismael, who is 60 years of age, lives in an apartment in León but was born in the El Sauce municipality of León. He is married and is the father of three children, all of whom are adults now. He earns his living driving a school bus, making trips for elementary school children. He started in the business thanks to a brother-in-law who gave him a loan to buy a bus. Afterwards he sold the bus and bought a car to use as a taxi. Later he sold the car and then decided to buy a school bus and work in school transport, sometimes making private trips. In all, his experience in the area of driving started 18 years ago.

He requested this loan to do mechanical maintenance work on the bus. With this investment he hopes to be able to maintain his bus in perfect mechanical condition because this is his means of work and because he wants to provide his clients with safe transport as well as comfort and convenience for his passengers.

Among his future plans are purchasing another bus to make trips throughout Nicaragua and changing his routes into express trips around the entire country. He would like to get contracts with hotels and businesses in order to offer his services.
