Besweri
A loan of $1,000 helps to buy essential equipment for the beauty salon like styling chairs and shampoo.

Besweri's story
Besweri is 45 years old and lives in the town of Kiyinda in the Mityana region of Uganda. He is married and has three children, with two of them currently in school. For the past 10 years, he has been working hard to manage his beauty salon, which plaits hair and does hair treatment.
To help expand his business, Besweri has requested a loan of 3,500,000 UGX from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy essential equipment for the salon, like styling chairs, shampoo stations, hairdryers, mirrors, and professional tools like scissors, clippers, and flat irons. It will help Besweri to generate greater profits and improve his family's standard of living by providing them with enough food and clothes.
Besweri hopes that in the future he will be able to build rental units for business. He is a member of BRAC's microfinance program, which primarily serves small-group members like him, who do not have collateral for commercial loans but have businesses that have grown and qualify for microloans.
