Sol Group's story

Keyly is 20 years old and lives at home with her parents and a brother.  She is trained as an accountant, but she does not work in this profession.  A year ago, Keyly started a business selling catalog products such as clothes, shoes, and personal care items.  At the moment, she has very few products to offer.  For this reason, she is requesting her first Kiva loan to buy personal use products, jewelry, clothing, and shoes in order to restock her inventory.

Each month, Keyly and eight other women attend the meetings for the Friendship Bridge Communal Bank named "Sol".  They speak the Tzutuhil dialect of the Mayan language.  The women are excited about the educational training seminars that are a part of the "Microcredit Plus" program that consists of loans, education, and health services.  They learn about planning, budgeting, and saving.  These skills will help manage their businesses that include selling embroidered textiles, handicrafts, and catalog products.  They also learn about topics related to health, family, and women's issues.  Every two months, the women have access to all types of health services, including exams and consultations, with a nurse who visits their community.

Thank you, Kiva lenders, for supporting women like Keyly.  Having this support will open doors to a better future!
