Elvia Marina

Elvia Marina's story

In the community of Cuesaca lives Marina, a widow, age 72. She lives with her granddaughter who, despite being independent and having her own little house, stays with her. The two of them take care of each other and keep each other company.

Marina has been a humble farmer for the greater part of her life. For this reason, she cannot stop working. She continues to do it, to a lesser extent, but with much love and dedication, because this means she does not depend on anyone.

Marina currently has a three month crop of beans and peas. She requests a loan to buy agricultural supplies that will help her to protect the crops from pests and the worms that eat the leaves and damage the crops on her farm.  Marina wants to obtain a good profit from her crops in order to remodel her house, which it is very much needed to prevent deterioration of the structure.
