Amiran is a 52-year-old farmer from village Maghlaki, Imereti Region, West Georgia. He is married and lives with his wife Maya, their 24-year-old son and 23-year-old daughter.
The only source of income for the family comes from their agricultural business, where all family members are involved. They have two milk cows, produce cheese and sell it to local retailers. They also have a greenhouse where tomatoes (in the summer period) and greens (in winter) are grown. Amiran sells tomatoes and greens to vegetables exporters. Along with the above-mentioned they have a plot of the land where greens and watermelons are grown. They sell watermelons to local retailers.
Amiran requested credit for construction of another greenhouse. Demand on the market will allow him to sell more greens and vegetables and almost double the income of the family. 50% of the increased profit will be reinvested in agriculture and the rest will be used for covering household costs – purchase of furniture and renovation work.
