Richard has been a farmer in Litein in South Rift Kenya for the last 30 years, employing 4 farmhands and producing tea and milk for the local market. He gets additional income from his building blocks sales.
Richard has requested for a loan of 62,400 KES from Juhudi Kilimo to help him purchase and insure a dairy cow. He says the income from dairy will help in educating his children, who are numbering 8 and all in school. He remains optimistic that his business will continue to grow.
Richard, however, mentions droughts and poor markets as the business challenges for the local farmers.
