Chean, aged 60, is a rice farmer. She is a widow who currently lives with her daughter who works in the tobacco factory in Kompong Cham Province. Chean sells a few produce goods in her small store in front of her home. Chean’s daughter is concerned that she faces difficulties in traveling to her workplace because she doesn't have her own vehicle. To solve the problem, Chean has requested a loan to buy a second motorcycle for her daughter to ride to work.
Hattha Kaksekar Limited is one of the largest and most successful microfinance institutions (MFIs) in Cambodia. The organization provides microfinance services to the poor, particularly women, in urban and rural areas. Kiva lenders’ funds will be used to expand the outreach of HKL’s financial services to a greater number of clients in rural areas of Cambodia.
