Thor, age 37, is a rice farmer. Rice cultivation has been a part of her daily routine for many years. Rice is a critical product vital to the Cambodian people, and she learned her farming skills from her grandmother. She is widely known and trusted in this sector since before she was married. Her husband, Noun, is employed as a secondary school teacher in his community, Kompong Cham Province.
The couple has decided to start a new business whereby Noun will offer motorcycle taxi and transport services in their local community. Thor will therefore be using her loan to purchase a motorcycle for her husband, so that he can begin to operate a motor taxi service.
