Hellen is a married woman with three children all of whom attend school. She lives at a rental house that has electricity and piped water. Her greatest monthly expenses are food and school fees.
For the past nine years, she has operated a beauty salon business. Her potential customers are friends, neighbours and brides. She faces a major challenge of seasonality in her business. Hellen dreams of expanding her business and becoming self-reliant in the future.
With the Kshs 20,000 she wants to purchase a dryer, hair chemicals and food oil. She decided to join Yehu to access loans to boost her business.
About Yehu Microfinance Trust
This loan is administered by Yehu Microfinance Trust, which was founded in 1998 as a project of CHOICE Humanitarian Kenya. In July 2007, Yehu became a separate entity from CHOICE and was registered as a trust. Since then, Yehu has expanded to cover over half of Kenya’s 13 coastal districts.
