This is 42 year-old Sangita. She is married and has three children (24, 20 and 17). In 2003, she established her poultry farming business. In the Kathmandu Valley, raising poultry for eggs and meat is a very profitable business. Sangita works seven days a week and five hours a day to support her family. She has successfully repaid six loans from Patan BPW, and her most recent loan was used to buy small chickens. In the future, Sangita plans to uplift the economic condition of her family. She thanks you for your support.
Kiva loans are used to purchase chicks, food, and necessary medicine to keep the chickens healthy. Once matured, the chickens are sold at small butcher shops or in the many open air markets throughout the valley.
