Ip is a 42-year-old married woman who currently resides in the middle of Phnom Penh, the capital of Cambodia. She is a security guard who works in a private company. She started her job over two years ago. Ip is blessed with three kids. One of the kids is also employed as a security and he earns US$100 per month from this position. Her husband works in construction. Ip always goes to work by renting a motor taxi and she really wants to purchase one as her own vehicle, but she doesn’t have the immediate cash. Because of this, Ip is applying for a loan to buy a used motorbike to ride to her job location.
Hattha Kaksekar Limited is one of the largest and most successful microfinance institutions (MFIs) in Cambodia. The organization provides microfinance services to the poor, particularly women, in urban and rural areas. Kiva lenders’ funds will be used to expand the outreach of HKL’s financial services to a greater number of clients in rural areas of Cambodia.
