Maritza operates a food catering business. She's owned the business for more than 10 years and it's proof of just how responsible a businesswoman she is. She started the business because she needed an income to pay her bills. She likes working and she can pay her own way because she's always lived modestly. Maritza is applying for a loan so that she can buy supplies--vegetables, cooking utensils, firewood, etc.--for her business. Although she faces challenges--terrible pain in her knees, for example, that make her sick--she knows that she has to get up every day to work and make the money she needs to live.
Maritza se dedica a la venta de comida. Tiene más de 10 años en este negocio, pues siempre ha demostrado ser una persona responsable. Inicio este medio de vida por la necesidad de sufragar los ingresos de su hogar, ya que siempre le ha gustado trabajar y ganarse la vida de una forma humilde. El motivo del financiamiento es para la compra de granos básicos, verduras, utensilios de cocina, leña entre otras cosas. a pesar de los desafíos que enfrenta como son de salud ya que tiene dolores fuertes de rodillas y esto la deja muy enferma, pero Martiza sabe que tiene que levantarse para poder obtener algo de ganancia para comer y pagar su deuda.

Fundación Leon 2000 began operations in 1993 as the first microfinance institution to serve the western part of Nicaragua, a country which continues to be one of the poorest in the western hemisphere. Fundación Leon 2000 works to further the development of micro, small, and medium enterprises through credit services and management, applying the best credit industry practices and technical expertise. Additionally, Fundación Leon manages several business and financial education programs in the community, specifically for young entrepreneurs and at-risk youth. Fundación Leon 2000’s group of experienced and dedicated employees works in 7 offices in Leon, Chinandega, Chichigalpa, Somotillo, Jinotepe, El Sauce, and Nagarote and serves several thousand clients (the majority of whom are women).
