Fatuma is a married woman with 5 children, all of whom attend school. She owns a house that has electricity and piped water. Her greatest monthly expense is school fees.
For the past 1 year, she has operated a video cafe business. Her potential customers are neighbours and passersby. In addition, she also operates a retail shop business which contributes to her other source of income. Her major challenge is seasonality. During the rainy season low numbers of customer turn up. She dreams of expanding her business in the future.
With the Kshs 30,000 she wants to purchase a television, videos and CDs for entertainment in her video cafe. She decided to join Yehu to access loans to boost her business.
About Yehu Microfinance Trust
This loan is administered by Yehu Microfinance Trust, which was founded in 1998 as a project of CHOICE Humanitarian Kenya. In July 2007, Yehu became a separate entity from CHOICE and was registered as a trust. Since then, Yehu has expanded to cover over half of Kenya’s 13 coastal districts.
