The group "A.C. Sartasinani" will start its 4th loan cycle with Pro Mujuer. This group is meets in the Villa Exaltacion central office of Pro Mujer, and is made up of 8 members. The group is led by its board of directors, which is headed by Irene. The members of this group have a variety of different businesses, including: the sale of soft drinks, the sale of cheese, dressmaking, construction, the sale of undergarments, and shoe production. The group also includes a teacher and a taxi driver.

Irene tells us that it's been a year and a half since she joined Pro Mujer at the invitation of her daughter. Now she has a business selling undergarments that she has been working in since she started with our institution. Previously, she had a different business, but her daughter suggested that she work with this type of merchandise.

The loan that she will get now will be used to increase her merchandise (to buy undergarments.) She will buy this merchandise on Tumusla street (a commercial street in the city of La Paz), and she will sell the merchandise in an itinerant manner 3 days a week. This type of work will allow her to generate resources to help support her family, as she lives in a common-law marriage and has 7 children.

When asked what she likes about Pro Mujer, she responded that she likes the services and the methodologies of the institution.

Additional Information

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
