Sabougnouma Group

The five women of the group SABOUGNOUMA are all married, and they average 37 years of age and four children each. The women live for the most part in polygamous families in BOUGOULA HAMEAU, a village in Sikasso (3rd administrative region of the Republic of Mali). These group members are on their seventh collaboration with the micro-finance institution Soro Yiriwaso in order to satisfy the needs of their customers. All the previous loans have been repaid without any problems at all.  This group of women does commerce in fabrics, with KOROTOUMOU, the group’s president.

KOROTOUMOU plans on using her loan to buy 120 rolls of cloth. She gets her supplies at the main market of Sikasso from wholesalers. Accepting cash, she makes her sales in Sikasso City and at the house to a customer base composed of women and men.

She hopes to make an average monthly profit of 10,000 francs CFA that will be used for family expenses.

Les cinq femmes du groupe SABOUGNOUMA sont toutes mariées, avec une moyenne d’âge de 37 ans, et en moyenne 4 enfants, elles vivent la plupart dans des familles polygames à BOUGOULA HAMEAU un des villages de Sikasso 3ème région administrative du Mali.
Elles sont à leur septième collaboration avec l’institution de microfinance Soro Yiriwaso afin de satisfaire le besoin de leur clientèle, tous les prêts précédents ont été remboursés sans aucune difficulté. Ce groupe de femmes fait le commerce de tissus avec KOROTOUMOU, la présidente.
KOROTOUMOU, compte acheter avec son prêt, 120 rouleaux de tissus. Elle s’approvisionne au grand marché de SIKASSO, auprès des grossistes et effectue sa vente à SIKASSO ville et en famille à une clientèle composée d’hommes et de femmes, au comptant.
Elle espère réaliser un bénéfice mensuel moyen de 100.000FCFA, qui sera utilisé pour les dépenses quotidiennes de la famille.

Soro Yiriwaso is a microfinance institution that works primarily in rural and semi-urban areas of Mali to provide underprivileged communities with access to financial services.The organization facilitates access for disadvantaged clients, particularly women, to new resources and services, fostering solidarity and cooperation among its clients. Kiva lenders’ funds will enable Soro Yiriwaso to expand its outreach and target even more underserved Malians involved in business and agriculture.
