In the parish of Crucita near Portoviejo we find a place known as the sandy ground, here find every two weeks the members of the Miraflores Communal Bank, the area is known for its beautiful beaches, the food and by the warmth of its people.

Jessica is a founding member of the Communal Bank and she enjoys it since all of her colleagues in the bank are very responsible. She is 21 years old, single and attends the Technical University of Manabí where she hopes to graduate as a schoolteacher and from she says she loves children, she lives in her parents’ home.

Jessica spends her time between schoolwork and business since she sells Esika products (beauty products, makeup, perfumes and accessories for women) by catalogue. She works everyday since she takes her magazine everywhere she goes so that her customers make their orders for whatever they need. She sells door to door and by order, and on credit and collects every week, Jessica says that she takes advantage of the sale items since they are cheaper and later sells them at the normal rate which gives her more income, she also states that she began her business with the first loan.

This loan will be used to buy perfumes, costume jewelry, makeup and creams.

Jessica dreams of finishing her studies and finding a job in a school to impart her knowledge and love for children.
