The photo above shows Mrs. Sang S. who sells a variety of items from her own store which she operates from her house. She is 45 and married, and has been blessed with five single children: one of them is employed as a salaried security guard. Her husband is a motor taxi (Tuk Tuk) driver in and around the province of Siem Reap. Mrs. Sang S. is a busy woman who works hard every day at her business in order to earn the money to help support her family. She will use part of this Kiva loan as capital to purchase more items to sell, and the rest of the loan to mend her husband’s motorcycle.
Hattha Kaksekar Limited is one of the largest and most successful microfinance institutions (MFIs) in Cambodia. The organization provides microfinance services to the poor, particularly women, in urban and rural areas. Kiva lenders’ funds will be used to expand the outreach of HKL’s financial services to a greater number of clients in rural areas of Cambodia.
