You can see that the group of ladies looks very happy in the photo. She [Marcia] has sold footwear for 11 years. She is asking for the loan to buy merchandise and therefore expand her business. When asking for this loan, she is happy and in high spirits. She is 29 years old, studied through high school, is married, and has one daughter. Marcia wants this loan to increase her earnings. She also hopes that her business grows more to be able to generate more earnings and to be recognized for the quality of her products. Maribel D. is another member of the group. She is the president. She is 45 years old, studied through high school, is married, and has 2 children. She has been selling snacks that she prepares on a hot plate for four years. She is asking for the loan to expand her business and to always have raw materials for all of her customers. Since they really like how she cooks, she always runs out of her product. Maribel feels very happy since, thanks to this opportunity, she is going to be able to provide an education and a life of quality for her children. The group is made up of 9 members and this is the fourth time that they are asking for a loan. NOTE: TWO CHILDREN OF THE LADIES APPEAR IN THE PHOTO.

This is a Group Loan
In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.
