Ofelia V. is the group's president. She has a lot of experience in producing different types of vegetables since she has been in this business for 17 years. She attended elementary school and has two sons: one is 12 years old and the other is 14. Her husband farms.
Ofelia is requesting this loan so that she can continue investing in producing vegetables such as peas, carrots, corn and chayotes (vegetable pears), and increase her production so that she can reach more people and enable them to eat healthily and without preservatives. She would also like to enjoy a better quality of life and to provide her children with an education, which she was not able to have herself.
Ofelia is grateful for her loan since it has meant that she has managed to get ahead through this opportunity that is being given to entrepreneurial women.
(Note: the lady who cannot be seen very well is called Libia P.).

This is a Group Loan
In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.
Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
