A loan of $450 helped to buy shoes.

Ana Isabel's story

There is a community in the state of Oaxaca called San Miguel Soyaltepec. This community has a very large lagoon that produces much fishing and work each year. It is also known because the Cerro de Oro Hydroelectric Dam is located there.

Ana Isabel, 33, lives here. She finished 9th grade and is married to Enrique with whom she has three children who attend the local elementary school.
Ana tells us that her husband is a Topographer but what he earns is sometimes not enough because prices rise every day. She, therefore, decided to start to work in a business of own to help him a little with household expenses and educational costs for their small children.

She tells us that she sells women's and men’s shoes by catalogue, door to door, among her friends and neighbors in the community. She first takes the catalogues around to her customers to show the products, then takes orders which she delivers to her suppliers. When the shoes arrive she delivers them to her customers and collects payment for them.

She needs this loan to invest in the purchase of catalogues and shoes to sell. She wants to use the loan to enlarge her business in order to provide her children with a better quality of life and in the future pay for them to study a career.

Ana sends a greeting to the people who make these loans possible and to the Fundación for trusting her.
