Mwanamisi is a married woman with one child who attends school. She owns a house that neither has electricity nor piped water. Her greatest monthly expenses are food and school fees. For the past five years, she has operated a business selling cashew nuts from home to her neighbors. Mwanamisi faces a major challenge of competition from other cashew nut sellers in the market. She dreams of becoming known as a reliable seller in the market.
With the Kshs 50,000 loan she is requesting, Mwanamisi wants to purchase 10 sacks of cashew nuts for resale. Mwanamisi decided to join Kiva's partner, Yehu, to access loans to boost her business.
