Soeurn S., age 25, is a building worker and he is able to earn a daily income of around 4 USD to help support his family. He has a life partner in his wife who works a garment worker and has a formal salary. The couple is blessed with a young child who is not yet enrolled in school. Soeurn S. will be using the loan to buy jewelry as an inheritance for his kid as well as selling it out whenever he needs an immediate cash for starting up a new business.
Hattha Kaksekar Limited is one of the largest and most successful microfinance institutions (MFIs) in Cambodia. The organization provides microfinance services to the poor, particularly women, in urban and rural areas. Kiva lenders’ funds will be used to expand the outreach of HKL’s financial services to a greater number of clients in rural areas of Cambodia.
