Haydee
Haydee is a member of the “Espíritu Santo” (Holy Ghost) community bank which is located in the city of Talcahuano. Her business is general dressmaking. Her sewing workshop is located in her home and her customers are schools, companies and private customers. She makes uniforms and clothes in general. In her workshop, Haydee has three sewing machines: one straight line machine, one embroidery machine and one basic overlock machine. She buys her materials in the city of Concepción and when she needs to she also travels to the city of Santiago to buy her materials there. Haydee's sister also helps her with her purchases and sends her parcels to the city of Talcahuano.

Haydee will use her loan to buy an industrial overlock sewing machine. She will also buy materials for her sewing work, specifically fabrics. Her goals are to expand her business and to hire someone to help her in her workshop since the demand for her services is high throughout the year. Only during the months of May, June and July do her sales tend to drop. However, throughout the year she receives private customers in her home.

Haydee lives together with her husband, her 24 year-old daughter and her 4 year-old grandson. Her daughter is studying civil construction. Haydee's dream on a personal level is to be able to better provide for her family's well-being.

Haydee is very grateful for the loan she has been offered by Fondo Esperanza since it will enable her to invest in her business and make more profit. She finds the meetings to be very pleasant and she shares a lot with the other members of her community bank. The training sessions have enabled her to incorporate different accounting techniques into her business, above all as regards the recording of incomings and outgoings in her business.

Talcahuano is a municipality and city-port in Bíobío region, in the south of Chile. It is known as one of the main ports in the country. Its name in Mapudungun (Mapuche language) means 'thunderous sky'. It has a very attractive natural landscape, owing to the combination of rivers, sea, fertile plains, meadows and mountains, with beautiful vegetation. Its economy revolves around its port, its naval base and an important industrial area with iron and steel companies, oil refineries, petrochemical companies, cement companies, gas companies, etc.

Haydee forma parte del banco comunal “Espíritu Santo” perteneciente a la ciudad de Talcahuano. Ella se dedica al corte y confección de ropa en general. Su taller de costuras lo tiene ubicado al interior de su casa. Sus clientes son colegios, empresas y particulares. Confeccionando uniformes y costuras en general. En su taller Haydee cuenta con 3 máquinas de coser, entre estas una máquina de coser en línea, otra bordadora y una overlook básica. Sus materiales los compra en la ciudad de Concepción y cuando se da la ocasión de viajar a la ciudad de Santiago compra ahí sus materiales. Además la hermana de Haydee la ayuda con las compras y se las envía a la ciudad de Talcahuano por encomienda.
Con el préstamo comprará una máquina de coser overlook industrial. Además de materiales para sus costuras, específicamente telas.
Sus metas son ampliar su negocio y contratar a una persona que le ayude en el taller, ya que durante todo el año la demanda de sus servicios es alta. Solo durante los meses de mayo, junio y julio, las ventas tienden a disminuir. Sin embargo todo el año llegan a su casa clientes particulares.
Haydee vive junto a su esposo, su hija de 24 años y su nieto de 4 años de edad. Su hija estudia Construcción Civil. Sus sueños a nivel personal, son poder brindarle a su familia un mejor bienestar.
Haydee está muy agradecida del crédito obtenido por Fondo Esperanza, ya que con éste podrá invertir en su negocio y generar mayores ganancias. Las reuniones a las cuales asiste son muy gratas y comparte bastante con los demás socios del banco comunal. Con las capacitaciones ha podido incorporar a su negocio diferentes técnicas de contabilidad, sobre todo en el registro de ingresos y gastos generados en su negocio.
Talcahuano es una comuna y ciudad-puerto de la región del Bíobío, al sur de Chile. Es conocida como uno de los principales puertos del país. Su nombre en mapudungun (lengua mapuche) significa "cielo tronador". Posee un paisaje natural muy atractivo, debido a la combinación de ríos, mar, planicies fértiles, vegas y los cuerpos montañosos, con una hermosa vegetación. Su economía gira en torno a su puerto, su Base Naval, y un importante barrio industrial con empresas siderúrgicas, refinería de petróleo, petroquímica, cemento, gas, etc.

About Fondo Esperanza

Fondo Esperanza (FE) is a private non-profit organization that supports entrepreneurship by providing micro-credit and training to people living in poverty in well over 100 cities throughout Chile. By providing these services, FE aims to improve the living conditions of the entrepreneurs and their families. In 2010, FE provided loans to more than 41,000 entrepreneurs. It utilizes a communal banking model in which groups of 18 to 25 clients meet on regularly and guarantee each other’s loans. The members use their portion of the loan to create or expand their own businesses. In the group meetings, clients receive training though the FE Entrepreneurship School, which enhances clients’ personal and business skills and ability to work in groups.
