Magret is a married woman with two children, both of whom attend school. She lives in a rental house that has electricity but no piped water. Her greatest monthly expense is food for the family.
For the past four years, Magret has operated a greengrocery business, selling at the market to her neighbors and passers-by. Magret faces the major challenge of high transport costs in her business. She dreams of opening a boutique business in the future.
With her loan of 30,000 KES, she wants to purchase one sack of potatoes, tomatoes and onions. She decided to join Kiva partner, Yehu, to access loans to boost her business.
