Mr. Kha Village Bank Group
In this Group: Kha, Lorn, Srey, Srea, Ny, Lay, Pheap, Lap, Sar, Mam, Hin, Brorng, Mam, Khorn
Fourteen members make up this village bank loan. They will each use their portion of the loan for different purposes to improve their family’s standard of living. Mr. Kha is the village bank president who has been selected by the members. He is a farmer who owns a 2-hectare plot of land where he grows rice to support his own family and to sell. His wife, Mrs. Horn, is a recycling seller. In the rice field, he faces some problems because it is time for growing. To improve his rice production, Mr. Kha is applying for a loan to buy rice seed and pesticide, and to plow his rice field. He will use the rest of the loan to buy more recycled goods to resell. He is the father of four children: one is a farmer and the others are studying at the local public school.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
