From Ornlong Veng district of Siem Reap province, Meng K. sells a few items such as sweets for kids, gasoline, soft drinks and some cooking supplies, in front of her house. To meet the family’s living expenses, her husband grows different kinds of crops on his own land. This couple has three school-aged children. Recently, part of Meng K.’s stock has run out; she wants to resupply and is requesting a loan to build up her inventory so she can continue selling. With the remainder of the funds, she will support her husband's farming business.
Hattha Kaksekar Limited is one of the largest and most successful microfinance institutions (MFIs) in Cambodia. The organization provides microfinance services to the poor, particularly women, in urban and rural areas. Kiva lenders’ funds will be used to expand the outreach of HKL’s financial services to a greater number of clients in rural areas of Cambodia.
