Pauline was born in 1957 in Benin and has lived for about fifteen years in Agblangandan in the town of Sèmè-Podji. She is a widow and has eight children, all of whom are in school, but none of whom are in her care. Pauline thus lives alone and provides for herself. She never attended school. To meet her needs and those of her family, Pauline runs a business selling motor oil, fuel oil, and also maize through the local distribution system. She buys her goods from wholesalers and is a longstanding client of ALIDÉ who has repaid all her loans. With the goal of strengthening her business and satisfying her clientele, Pauline is seeking another loan with ALIDÉ. Her ambition is to further strengthen her business in order to increase her income.

Alidé is a Beninese NGO that works to reduce poverty by offering sustainable access to productive loans like this one in addition to savings, training sessions, and social work to low-income families.
Supporters of this loan should be aware that there is some risk of being repaid late. Because the Beninois Ministry of Finance has imposed restrictions on the amount of money Alidé can send to Kiva, the organization can only send monthly repayments in installments smaller than $13,000. This means that some Kiva lenders may receive their repayments late. However, Alidé remains a healthy institution in good standing with its creditors, and Kiva would like to continue working to support its clients.
