Luz
Luz is a member of the communal bank "Creciendo con Fe" which is located in the city of Viña del Mar. She has a vending post where she sells ice-cream, drinks, and sweets. It is a mobile kiosk that can be moved from place to place along with the merchandise. Luz has been in this line of work for ten years.

Luz buys her inventories from pastry shops and distributor companies where she can purchase at lower prices. She will use the loan to buy the supplies for her business. Furthermore, she will use part of the loan to perform maintenance on her vehicle, especially the wheels and the tarp cover.

Luz's goal is to have her own established location where she could offer her products; she also wants to buy a pickup truck for transporting her merchandise. Luz would like to realize these projects this year. In terms of her personal dreams, Luz wants to bring a more comfortable life for her family; she lives together with her husband and her four children as well as her daughter-in-law.

Luz is very grateful and happy about the loan given by the Fondo Esperanza since it will allow her to invest in her business and improve her income. Also, Luz participates in the workshops on how to better administer your own business where she learned how to track her income and expenses and how to better distribute them. She feels happy about her group because she finds that its members have good communication and team spirit.

Viña del Mar is a city located in the central coastal area of Chile; it is known as the Garden City because of the gardens and courtyards that adjoin some of the older buildings in the city. It is also considered the tourist capital of Chile.

Luz forma parte del banco comunal “Creciendo con Fe” perteneciente a la ciudad de Viña del Mar.
Ella tiene un puesto donde vende confites, bebidas y helados. Este es un carro kiosco, que puede trasladar a diferentes lugares con su mercadería. Luz se dedica a éste rubro desde hace 10 años.
Su mercadería la compra en confiterías y distribuidoras, donde los precios sean más convenientes para invertir.
Con el préstamo comprará mercadería para abastecer su negocio, además invertirá en materiales para reparar su carro, específicamente lona y ruedas, ya que a éste se le debe realizar una mantención.
Sus metas son tener un local establecido, donde pueda ofrecer y vender sus productos, además quiere comprar una camioneta para trasladar su mercadería. Pretende concretar éste proyecto durante éste año. Y sus sueños a nivel personal, son surgir y brindarle a su familia una vida más confortable. Sus motivaciones de continuar con el negocio, son para concretar sus proyectos y sueños.
Luz vive junto a su esposo y sus 4 hijos más su nuera.
Ella está muy contenta y agradecida del crédito obtenido por Fondo Esperanza, ya que con éste podrá invertir en su negocio y generar mejores ganancias. Además participa de los talleres para dirigir mejor su negocio, en donde ha aprendido a registrar sus gastos y ganancias, además de distribuirlos mejor. Respecto a las reuniones con su grupo, Luz se siente contenta, ya que existe solidaridad y comunicación al interior de éste.
Viña del Mar es una ciudad y comuna ubicada en el litoral central de Chile, conocida como la Ciudad Jardín debido a los jardines y patios que poseen algunas viviendas antiguas de la ciudad. También es considerada la capital turística de Chile.

About Fondo Esperanza

Fondo Esperanza (FE) is a private non-profit organization that supports entrepreneurship by providing micro-credit and training to people living in poverty in well over 100 cities throughout Chile. By providing these services, FE aims to improve the living conditions of the entrepreneurs and their families. In 2010, FE provided loans to more than 41,000 entrepreneurs. It utilizes a communal banking model in which groups of 18 to 25 clients meet on regularly and guarantee each other’s loans. The members use their portion of the loan to create or expand their own businesses. In the group meetings, clients receive training though the FE Entrepreneurship School, which enhances clients’ personal and business skills and ability to work in groups.
