Ararati group is composed of 27 members, mostly women. Some colleagues from the market joined in for the photograph to express solidarity, there are thus 31 persons to be seen in the picture.

Kihuho E. est entrepreneur, présidente du groupe d’affaire « Ararati », âgée de 59 ans, mariée, mère de 8 enfants et tous fréquentent l’école et d’autres ont leur propres foyers. Son mari est un agent de presse attaché au gouvernorat provincial du Nord Kivu. La cliente Kihuho E. est vendeuse des produits divers. Elle s’installe au long de la rue donnant axer aux avenues de son quartier, parfois devant sa maison. Elle vient de réaliser 5 cycles opérationnels en bénéficiant de crédit de l’IMF Hekima. Ce nouveau crédit doit lui servir de s’approvisionner avec des nouveaux produits (10 pairs de souliers, bijoux, habits dames, habits hommes, habits de junior, ceintures, etc.). En plus, elle ambitionne agrandir son entreprise et construire confortablement une maison pour sa famille. La cliente Kihuho E. remercie Hekima pour ses actions en faveur de pauvres exclus de banque classique. Il sied de signaler que le groupe d’affaire « Ararati » est majoritairement féminin composé de 27 clients. Cependant, certains collègues du marché ont profité de cette photo du groupe pour plus d’ambiance et la solidarité d’où 31 figures visibles..

HEKIMA is a microfinance institution headquartered in Goma, Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), with branch offices in Goma and Bukavu. HEKIMA aims to contribute to the transformation of the economic, social, and spiritual lives of the economically active poor of the DRC. To this end, HEKIMA provides its clients with solidarity group loans to support income-generating activities. Despite ongoing instability and violence in its operating areas, HEKIMA continues to keep its doors open and provide credit and savings services for its over 90% female clientele.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.
