Mary is a married woman with two children, who graduated from school. She lives in a rental house that has electricity, but not piped water. Her greatest monthly expense is rent. She has operated a charcoal selling business for the past five years, selling from home to her neighbors and passersby.
Mary's major challenge in her business, is high cost of transportation. She dreams of expanding and doing a wholesale charcoal business in future. With the Kshs 40,000 loan, she wants to purchase sacks of charcoal for resale. She decided to join Yehu to gain access to loans that will help boost her business.
About Yehu Microfinance Trust
This loan is administered by Yehu Microfinance Trust, which was founded in 1998 as a project of CHOICE Humanitarian Kenya. In July 2007, Yehu became a separate entity from CHOICE and was registered as a trust. Since then, Yehu has expanded to cover over half of Kenya’s 13 coastal districts.
