The Women’s Committee named “San Antonio III” was formed as a result of several neighbors joining together who are from the community of 8000 Bertoni in the city of San Ignacio. There are ten members in this committee and they are participating in their fourth loan cycle. This group stands out in their neighborhood for being close-knit, supportive and responsible. The members possess a tremendous enterprising spirit that they have demonstrated from previous loan cycles through today. They have handled their loans and completed each cycle with great responsibility. As a result, they are eligible to access a new loan from Fundación Paraguaya.

Sra. Gregoria B. raises animals. She feeds them so that they can grow to be healthy and later sold to the consumer. Gregoria generates very good earnings because of the high quality of her products. She is requesting a loan to buy more animals, medicines, and balanced feed.

This is not the first time these members have requested loans through Kiva. For this reason, they are confident that the lenders will assist them with a new loan.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
