The “NUEVA ILUCIÓN” ["New Hope"] communal association is starting its thirteenth loan cycle with Pro Mujer, as part of the Santiago II regional center. It is composed of 13 members, and its president is Maria. The businesses operated by the members of the communal association are diverse, including food services, glass sales, Entel [telecommunications] service point, potato sales, chicharrón [cooked pork] sales, weaving, toy and stuffed animal sales, handicrafts, clothing sales, blanket sales, milkshake sales, and jewelry.

María, the president of the communal association, reports that she has participated in Pro Mujer for a year and a half, and she joined by invitation.

Currently, María has a business selling food, which she has operated for twelve years. She reports that she learned this business from her mother, because she had helped her with it in previous years. The loan that she will receive now is to buy vegetables, which she generally buys in La Ceja and sells in Nuevos Horizontes every day. This type of work allows her to generate resources to contribute to her family, since she is married and has two children.

When she is asked what she likes about Pro Mujer, she responds that she likes everything.

La A.C. “NUEVA ILUCIÓN” iniciará su ciclo decimo tercero en Pro Mujer, como parte del Centro Focal de Santiago II. Está compuesta por trece integrantes y tiene como presidenta a la señora Maria. Los negocios que las integrantes de la asociación comunal llevan adelante son variados entre ellos tenemos: comida, venta de vidrios, punto Entel, venta de papa, venta de chicharrón, tejidos, venta de peluches y juguetes, artesanías, venta de ropa, comida, venta de cortes de manta, venta de batidos, joyería.

La señora María, presidenta de la asociación comunal, indica que hace un año y medio que participa en Pro Mujer y que ingreso por invitación.

En la actualidad la señora María tiene un negocio de venta de comida con el que trabaja hace doce años; nos cuenta que este negocio lo aprendió de su mamá, porque le ayudaba hace años atras. El crédito que sacará ahora es para la compra de verduras, la que compra generalmente de la ceja y la vende en Nuevos Horizontes todos los días. Esta forma de trabajo le permite generar recursos para apoyar a su familia, pues ella esta casada y tiene dos hijos
